There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is against the law. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime location, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked barge gambling hall, contains 150 slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that highlights numerous conveniences accompanying the casino, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 gaming tables.
